Founded in 2015, we are passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals by providing one-on-one tailored assistance that our schools just cannot provide based on student to counselor ratios. We started by talking with family and friends about information we considered foundational college preparatory knowledge. However, most of the people we talked to were unaware of the basics. We decided to start College Concierge & Coaching, LLC with the intent of sharing what we have learned through our combined 25+ years of experience in community colleges, proprietary, and four-year colleges and universities.
We believe in giving back to our community through creating events like local college fairs. Contact us if we can be of service to our community through partnerships with your organization or event.
Serena Johnson, MSW, LCSWA
Hello! My name is Serena Johnson, and I am a Co-Founder of Collegiate Concierge & Coaching, LLC. I have worked in higher education for more than 12 years, and I have both a bachelors and master’s degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. My parents made their expectations clear that I would not only attend but graduate from college. However, my family and I were at a slight disadvantage because we were navigating completely new territory. Nevertheless, this disadvantage taught me the importance of connecting to professionals that could assist me and contribute to my success.
After completing my master’s degree, I relocated to Phoenix, AZ, and worked with children and families in special education for eight years. During this time, I realized that education is the number one opportunity for individuals to change their own lives and the lives of their families. I am excited to assist students in preparing for the next step in their academic careers and I am committed to providing honest, realistic and accurate information.
Malinda Nichols Daniel, Ed.D.
Hello! My name is Malinda Nichols Daniel and I am a Co-Founder of Collegiate Concierge & Coaching, LLC. I have worked in higher education for over 10 years and have a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in English Literature. I enjoyed my studies but became frustrated when I realized I was not employable with my major. I then completed a master’s degree in Pan-African Studies as well as a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Louisville.
Following this, I began working for the National Science Foundation recruiting and retaining female and minority students who were the first in their families to go to college into the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. I truly found my calling in working with prospective college students. Based on this, I pursued and earned my doctorate in Adult and Post-Secondary Education from the University of Wyoming.
I have now returned home, to Union County, NC, to serve the community where I grew up. I believe in being honest, up front and forthright regarding the academic future of a student. It is my passion to help all students go to the best college for them to achieve their dreams!
